Herbs can support in a variety of ways. For example, turmeric is considered by many herbalists to be the most important herb available. It can help support cardiovascular health by keeping blood pressure and cholesterol at healthy levels. It is also is an excellent herb for the liver and gallbladder and assists in keeping blood sugar at a healthy level. Additionally, turmeric assists by keeping inflammation down virtually anywhere in the body. Turmeric combined with chamomile is an excellent supportive herbal blend for stiff and painful joints, which also enhances nerve repair.
Ashwagandha is a powerful adaptogen. Adaptogens are herbs that assist the body in resisting stress, have a normalizing action in the body, and cause minimal, if any, side effects or physiological disturbance. Ashwagandha is used in Ayurvedic or traditional Indian herbalism to help the body adapt to physiological and psychological stress. It relaxes the mind as it rejuvenates the body and increases its resistance to stress.
Eleuthero is another adaptogen from the Western herbal tradition that helps the body resist stress as it increases stamina. There are many other herbs that are adaptogens, some of which also have an antioxidant effect on the body, meaning they help the body eliminate free radicals. These free radicals are what can cause imbalances in the body. Rhodiola is another example of an adaptogen that helps the body in all of the areas listed above.
